February: Celebrating the Love For Liberia

February is the month that we celebrate love. This year I am celebrating my love for Liberia. I have been in America 25 years. So many times I reflect about the journey that brought me here. Many nights I did not sleep. My mind wandered to memories of green Christmases, white flamingoes, fresh fruit and the smell of palm butter cooking in my mother's kitchen. And I long for the sand swept yesterdays that brought me so much joy.

As many of you know, I was a popular television personality in Liberia. Today, I work as an international travel consultant, CEO of GLOBAL WOMAN magazine, founder of Eye Images Media services and producer of my upcoming television show, A Woman's Touch. I am also the author of EXILED: Within the Heart of American Society and the upcoming novel, When The Games Froze.

Plans are underway for the launch of "GLOBAL WOMAN magazine". GLOBAL WOMAN magazine is a publication that will address the needs, wants, dreams and desires of women of all nationalities. Subscriptions are available worldwide. Each issue will be filled from cover to cover with excellent editorial and advertisements that are respectful to women. Our launch party is tenatively planned for April.22.2006 in the Washington DC area. Notifications will be sent out as soon as the venue is confirmed. Stay tuned for details!

Women's Expo 2006 Featuring Angela M Peabody

Saturday, March 11.12.2006 - Angela M. Peabody will be an exhibitor at the Women's Expo in Maryland. This event is hosted annually by the AAWCC (American Association for Women in Community College), a non-profit organization dedicated to women in community colleges and local businesses, working towards making a connection for everyone. I am so proud to be a part of this years' event and what may become a long-lasting relationship. Not only will I be there as an exhibitor, I will also conduct a workshop addressing issues stemming from displacement. As an incentive for the students to get involved in the expo, I have launched an essay contest. The contest entitled " The Finish Line" is asking the students to detail how they plan to make it to their graduation date. I know from personal experience that writing something down makes it real and creates a feeling of accountability. If you live in the area, please come out and support this effort.

Connecting with your higher power

God is truly amazing. As I rise in the morning and before I close my eyes at night, I pray. I pray in my car and on my job. You see, God and I have a relationship. The Iron Lady reigns!!! She is beautiful, powerful, determined and she's a history maker. I love to just think about the domino effect of Liberia's last election. Women are standing up, with upheld hands and firm voices saying, we matter! Women in Liberia, I am asking you to stay strong. There are many of us in the diaspora making plans to come to your aid. I love education and my plan is to build a very special school in Liberia. The Peabody Institute will offer creative approaches to learning, as well as extra-curriculum courses such as music and art. We have only just begun to rebuild Liberia. By working together we can accomplish all of our goals.

A Civil Rights Icon: Coretta Scott-King 1927-2006

The civil rights movement in America left a trail of blood, sweat and tears that we shall never forget.
